Your car looks beautiful Gerard! Is that your Encore hiding in the background?

The 'new' Alliance will be a nice addition to your upcoming events, can't wait to see some pictures of her on display!  wink

Pas Geoffrey de la voiture, c'est Brenda la voiture!  w  w
J'essaie d'apprendre a parler français, votre langue est compliquée !

#11 Re : Votre Renault Alliance » Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL » 2013-08-21 16:15:00

Thank you all for the compliments, it really has been a fun project!

Gerard, most people don't know what kind of car it is, i make them guess tongue.
When  i tell them it is a Renault, they have to stop and think, "oh yeah, i remember them!"
We have had many compliments, every one that sees it thinks it is a great little car, and comment on how nice it turned out.
Over here in the states we have a drive in restaurant named Sonic Drive Inn, they have a classic car night on fridays, and we will participate in that, i will take some pics and post them up here.

Now, it is time to get started on the restoration of my black 86 model, with all my practice doing Brenda's car, mine should take shape in good time!

It shall be red then!  w

I will save the grey one for my car, unless the black one on ebay comes down on his price  wink

A few more since time allows.

This is just after our first test drive, the car was not quite complete, notice there are no wiper arms, and you may notice the red boot cover in these pics, and the grey boot cover in the other pics.
Which one do you think looks better?

Here are some pics inspired by Francois and Cyrille's pics here on RACP.

Brenda's car is now complete, only a few minor details and some more testing (pleasure drives) by me, and i will turn her over to Brenda to drive daily.
The car runs and drives like a new car, and has more "pep" than ever!
I am very pleased with my efforts and she has rewarded me with near flawless performance bravo
Demands on my time have not allowed me to post some of the pics of the final assembly work, but i thought you would enjoy seeing the finished car.
I will try to post more pics when time allows!

Geoffrey

Cyrille, that is a spacer plate i made to mount the throttle body off a 2.5L Jeep engine on the 1.7L Renault engine. The base of the Jeep t-b is shorter, and the throttle link would rub the intake manifold without the spacer.

#17 Re : Votre Renault Alliance » La Renault Alliance 1.7 DL Convertible de Laïo » 2013-07-26 23:47:36

OH! if you look in my post Rebuilding Brenda's Alliance, post #24 pic #011998, you can see the lamp buckets, there are 2 adjusters, top and right, and 1 spring for each bucket. You can also see the screw holes for the bezel.
My limited computer skills prevent me from posting it here, perhaps one of you can paste it here?

#18 Re : Votre Renault Alliance » La Renault Alliance 1.7 DL Convertible de Laïo » 2013-07-26 23:38:16

Eduardo, do you have a parts diagram for the grille and headlights?

Alliance must be a universal language  w

I hope you understand English, and my meanings.

You are missing the lamp buckets, adjusters, springs and bezels.

I will find a photo to show you.

Laio, if you can not find the pieces you need locally, i am sure i will have what you need.

Your car looks very nice, the sister to Brenda's car  big_smile

#24 Re : Votre Renault Alliance » Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL » 2013-04-22 18:22:39

Cyril, i found them on ebay, they came from Cyprus. they where advertised to fit Alpine, A310, Renault 9 11 & 18.                                                                                            they looked like an exact fit, so i took a chance and ordered them. $16.99 for 2 plus shipping.
I typed in Renault lights on ebay. Hope this helps!

#25 Re : Votre Renault Alliance » Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL » 2013-03-03 19:37:59

Eduardo, i bought them on ebay, $163.80, free shipping to U.S. They advertise worldwide shipping.

As for the design and form, they are molded to the correct shape, however, i have not installed it yet, i will have to cut holes for the shifter, park brake handle and seat mountings.

The color is very close, perhaps a shade darker, the picture is a piece from the original carpet clipped to the new one, and the box it was shipped in with their information.001mkn.jpg 002zvl.jpg
