Yes, please do. You are also the 'store" for the Club Passion shirts?

#77 Re : Votre Renault Alliance » Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL » 2012-04-18 18:11:05

Yes, i have found the Valeo part, but i am very frugal, and they wanted $169.00 for the part kaola
It would cost less to import from Europe!

Cyrille, have you replaced the center console? If not, i have the console in that color. I will not need it for my projects. The logistics of shipping may be an obstacle, but i would let you have it, as i hate to see yours in such bad condition  sad

Eduardo, yes, i have many parts from Rock Auto, lots of wholesaler closeout prices bien

I wanted to order the heater core from them, but it was stocked in a warehouse in the U.K., so shipping charges where more than the cost of the part ouin

I will keep looking as i will need another one for my 86 Alliance soon!

#80 Re : Votre Renault Alliance » Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL » 2012-04-18 15:39:16

Francois, yes, i have changed the heater core. Since i had the dash out already, it was a good time to do so.

The heater core is very hard to find over here, and shipping charges from Europe are expensive!
Luckily one of my parts cars had the replacement all brass heater core, after an inspection, it was in good condition and i used that one.

I do not like the plastic and aluminum heater core, that is the only type i saw from Nissens or Valeo, did you find a brass unit, or the plastic type?

Cedric, thank you! The work has slowed down, sanding, body filler, preperations for painting are very time consuming as i am a mechanic, not a painter w

On a side note, i have the factory service manual that includes step by step removal and installation of the soft top, if anyone needs this, i may be able to scan the pages and create a file for them.

Happy Renaulting!

Very nice exhibit, i wish i could come to see it in person!

Who are the people all around the table? Are they all members of the RACP?

I know you  know them, but i do not, and would like to have a name to put with the faces.

Great job!

#84 Re : Salons et sorties proposés par le RACP » Avignon Motor Show 2012 » 2012-03-29 15:25:01

I've heard stories that guys would rent those Mustangs and take them to the local drag races, all the fun without the cost!

Rent a race car, have some fun, take it back on monday!

#85 Re : Discussions autour de la Renault Alliance » Why a Renault Alliance or Encore? » 2012-03-27 21:54:12

François, That looks like an AMC Eagle, the first 4 wheel drive compact wagon over here. Are there many of them over there? Many people really loved them, they would go through any terrain, and where very reliable!

Now for the rest of you, i would really like to hear more stories about how and why you each have an Alliance or Encore.  big_smile

#86 Re : Salons et sorties proposés par le RACP » Avignon Motor Show 2012 » 2012-03-26 18:01:19

Very nice photos, i am suprised by the number of American cars over there!  And yes, Francois, 1958 Ford Fairlane.

Cedric, No apologies needed, that is the answer i was looking for. Good information on the link you provided as well.  Thank you bravo

Cedric, much can be lost in translation, i understand the papier de verre to be sandpaper. It was the polish i was interested in. I was looking for a 'brand' [marque?] of the polish, and what coating [vernis] you had used. I hope that through  translation this does not sound like a silly question ddr

Francois, is that a mid 60's Firebird you have there? I would like to see your progress with that project. You appear to have many nice toys to play with w

I wanted to give you all an update. I have installed the fuel tank, with a new pump, Installed the new exhaust, 2"[50?mm] pipe, completed the engine plumbing and wiring. Filled all the fluids, and with very little cranking, she roared to life! bravo  w  big_smile   I let her run until the cooling fan cycled on then off, and am very pleased with the sound of the engine and the low note of the exhaust. The mechanical work is now complete, and i will be concentrating on getting the body panels ready for paint. Brenda is very excited to hear her car running, and very anxious to be able to drive her!  I will get some more pictures and post them as soon as possible!

I have owned several AMC Renaults over the past 25 yrs.  I got interested in them when i worked for an auto dealership that sold the AMC/Jeep/Renaults, they where new to the market, and no one wanted to work on these foreign cars, so being the new kid, they gave them to me to work on. Whenever one was deemed too expensive to repair, i would make an offer to buy, then repair it and resell it. In the end, i kept 4 convertibles thinking someday i would fix them up. The 2 i have for restoration are the ones i drove when Brenda and i first met, i eventually fixed up the red one for her, and my black one broke the timing belt and got parked for later repair.  That is my story, i would like to hear how and why so many of you overseas have chosen to import and fix up this little known car from Kenosha. So if you don't mind sharing your stories, i would like to hear them!

The black one is like mine, DL, classic black for the paint and Garnet cloth.

Francois, yes, to me the black ones are the most beautiful . I have a picture of yours as the background picture on my computer wink

Hello fellow Alliance lovers, I have 2 convertibles that i will be restoring for my wife and myself. Of course i must do hers first in order to keep her happy wink  I thought you all would like to see some pictures of my projects, but my computer skills are not very good, so you will see this message, and hopefully with Cyrille's help, he will post the images for me. The red car is my wife Brenda's car, i repainted and replaced the top some 10 years ago, but it's time to do the whole car now. The black one is my 1986 Alliance DL. I will get more pictures as the work progesses, and if anyone has any questions i will be glad to answer them.        Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures, and i will look forward to participating in the forum!   Geoffrey

Hello, new to this forum, but not to the Alliance convertible.
I have owned 6 of them over many years. I currently own 4, 2 for restoration, 2 for spare parts.

I hope some of the members can help me with locating a few parts that i cannot find here in the states.

We'll get to that later, for now, i'll look forward to participating in this forum.
And here's some pictures of my projects!
